The Urbino Tea Pot was designed in 1931 by Trude Petri for KPM, Konigliche Porzellan-Manufaktur. The URBINO collection was revolutionary for its time, paving the way for German Modernist design. The minimalist tea pot’s spherical form displays a “New Functionalism” focused on efficiency and the elimination of extraneous details. URBINO porcelain design was recognized at the Milan Triennale with a gold metal in 1936 and continues to be honored today by being displayed in the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
