Tapio Wirkkala was an internationally recognized Finnish designer who lived between 1915 and 1985. Wirkkala worked on a variety of projects spanning from designing mass produced products and one of a kind sculptural pieces to exhibition and graphic design. Wirkkala also designed Finland’s banknotes that were in circulation between 1955 and 1981. He is known for his ability to meld arts and craft sentiment with fine design. The ‘Finlandia’ line for Serafino Zani was created in collaboration with Tapio Wirkkala’s son, Sami, together they made a line of utensils that are timeless, chic and effective.
