Georg Jensen, a Danish Silversmith from 1866-1935, studied sculpture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. To blend his love for sculpture with a career Jensen apprenticed with silversmith master Mogens Ballin. In 1904, after just four years of apprenticing, he made the bold move of opening his own studio in Copenhagen. Georg Jensen started creating Art Nouveau metal objects that gracefully combined master technique with his sculptural sensibilities; they were quickly well received and launched his career. Georg Jensen was a diligent designer throughout his life, creating items that continue to be highly sought after. Today the team of Georg Jensen Silversmiths produce innovative jewelry and home products that are inspired by the founder’s spirit.
