Carl Aubock was an iconic designer who is considered to be one of the masters of Austrian modernism. Aubock studied at Vienna’s Academy of Fine Arts as well as the Bauhaus. After two years of study at the Bauhaus, Aubock decided to leave school to apprentice in his father metal shop. Carl Aubock soon found his place under his father’s guidance; he honed his craft and became well known for his sculptural brass objects. In 1954 at the Triennale de Milano Aubock was awarded four gold metals for his design work. Today Carl Aubock’s eye for exquisite form and craftsmanship is celebrated though the collection of his designs and continual production at the Werkstätte Carl Aubock.
