ANTIQUE FAUX BOIS CHAIR -
The Faux Bois Chair, cira 1890 is a piece of fine craftsmanship. Faux Bois, meaning “false wood” was an artistic practice that was highly active in the late 19th early 20th century in Belgium and France. Artisans would apply mixtures of concrete, mortar and grout to a steel armature, forming and craving the piece to resemble wood. Faux Bois is nearly a lost art form, making antique pieces highly desirable. This chair, has a sweeping white back that develops to resemble a stump, ideal for a garden space.
